Godo Pain & Wellness Center is a Chicago Wellness Clinic using the latest in pain research to help chronic pain patients. The standard medical approach to fibromyalgia pain is to prescribe drugs to mask the pain (and depression). The newest research points to 4 “hidden” underlying causes of chronic pain, and that is where we put our focus. You’ve been searching for help for your chronic pain, here we are. Sign up for your complimentary appointment, don’t wait. This is the rest of your life that we are talking about… let’s get you out of pain!
The term fibromyalgia encompasses many symptoms such as chronic pain and stiffness, with pain and fatigue that increases after physical exertion or emotional stress. Problems with sleep, fatigue, headaches, numbness, and gastrointestinal disturbances are also common. In fact, many fibro patients have also been diagnosed as having irritable bowel syndrome. The overlap of abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation, gas and bloating, flatulence, heartburn and reflux between the two conditions are very common. Symptoms of brain fog sometimes called "fibro-fog", difficulty with memory and word retrieval are also common.
Whether your pain can be “classified” as fibromyalgia or not doesn’t matter.
We specialize in any kind of chronic pain: fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, carpel tunnel, joint pain… we can help you with any kind of chronic pain.
Medically, the cause of fibromyalgia is termed idiopathic, meaning of unknown origin. Current standard treatment seeks to suppress or mask so-called “overactive” nerves.
If someone with fibromyalgia goes to a conventional doctor, the doctor will prescribe a variety of medications, usually a type of pharma cocktail which involves antidepressants, selective serotonin and or norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, muscle relaxers and strong pain killing drugs… all with possible side effects.
Unfortunately, treatment usually centers on accepting this lifestyle of low activity and “managing” pain and tolerating the side effects of the drugs for life.
Rather than suppressing/masking the symptoms, we dig deeper to find the possible underlying causes of the pain. Four new hidden causes of “overactive” nerve pain have recently been discovered. Hidden infections, or a form of bacterial overgrowth, trigger low grade systemic inflammation. These hidden infections are one of the main causes of chronic pain and often times they are in the bowel. We also look for hidden food allergies that cause constant, low-grade inflammation.
It can be like "detective work" and may take time to find the hidden source of your systemic inflammation. But the latest, most comprehensive treatment for fibromyalgia is to find sources of hidden infection, support the digestion and absorption of food, eliminate hidden food allergies, and then to employ strategies to increase the mitochondria, the energy factories of the cells (…and not just to “mask” the pain).
